Storms clearing east central Illinois-moving east through northwest Indiana

UPDATE 1:30 am
Severe thunderstorms  currently moving east out of Jasper  and Benton counties. Thunderstorms will taper off in the next hour across northwest Indiana and east central Illinois with the threat of any additional severe weather unlikely.

UPDATE: 1:20 am
Tree damage reported in Portage Indiana in Porter County north of Route 6 with wind gusts to 60 mph.

The line of severe thunderstorms that is raking areas east and south of Chicago has cleared east-central Illinois and is now moving east through portions of northwest Indiana.

The storms will be impacting portions of Newton, Benton and Jasper counties with high winds, hail and heavy rainfall until about 1:30 am.

Reports of wind gusts to 51 mph have been received from Hoopeston in Vermilion County just south of  Iroquois County and gusts to 50 mph at Paxton in Ford County.
