Tornado watch in effect in southern portions of Illinois/Indiana until 1AM CDT - low pressure center moving rapidly northeast - passes west of Chicago

As of 11PM CDT, the National Storm prediction Center had received 15 tornado reports this evening, most of which were in the St. Louis, Missouri area.  A single Illinois tornado touchdown with tree damage was reported in the Jamestown area and verified by weather radar at 9:20PM. The Tornado Watch covering portions of southern Illinois and Indiana will expire at 1AM CDT.

Low pressure was positioned just north of DeKalb, Illinois at 11PM moving northeast. In the Chicago metro area, most winds had begun to shift from the east to the south, and temperatures were on the rise. Highest readings for the day will probably occur just before midnight in most portions of the Chicago metro area. After midnight, the low pressure center will pass north of Chicago and move out over Lake Michigan - there will be a few scattered lingering showers with primarily west to southwest winds over the Chicago area.
